Guidance and Inspiration

Haburah operates through the dedication of volunteers who organize and support our activities. We are guided spiritually by Rabbi Max Godet, whose teachings and vision serve as a point of reference for our community. His role is inspirational, helping to shape the direction and inner life of Haburah.

Rabbi Max Godet

Rabbi Max Godet is a modern Orthodox rabbi from Brazil, a psychologist, and a teacher of Universal Kabbalah. He received rabbinic training over more than a decade in recognized seminaries in Brazil, the United States, and Israel, including the Straus–Amiel Institute, a program dedicated to the practical formation of rabbis capable of connecting Torah with contemporary life, under the guidance of Rabbis Eliahu Birnbaum and Shlomo Riskin.

As a psychologist specializing in neuropsychology, he has explored for years the intersection between spirituality, the human mind, and neuroscience, integrating these fields to offer teachings that promote wellbeing, awareness, and inner growth. His work is characterized by an integrative approach that brings the ancestral wisdom of Kabbalah into dialogue with the needs of contemporary life, making the depth of Jewish mysticism accessible to people from diverse backgrounds.

Rabbi Godet has developed original methodologies to apply Kabbalistic teachings to everyday life. Among them are Universal Kabalah, which presents the Kabbalistic tradition in a practical and accessible way; Neuro Kabbalah, which integrates principles of neuroscience with Jewish spirituality; and Kabbalah Counseling, a therapeutic approach designed to accompany individuals seeking personal transformation through an integrated lens.

His educational work extends through lectures, courses, retreats, and written publications, always with an emphasis on conscious transformation, self-knowledge, and connection with the transcendent. Rabbi Godet’s teachings invite each person to discover their own path of meaning within the Jewish tradition, fostering a spiritual life that is authentic and aligned with both Jewish law and ancestral wisdom.

He served for several years as a community rabbi in Rio de Janeiro and in Ecuador, and for eight years as Chief Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Uruguay, where he offered a renewed, clear, and relevant vision of Jewish life, deepened Torah study, and encouraged spiritual connection with the mystical sources of the tradition. He currently lives in Miami with his wife, Efrat Ferber, and their four children.
